Founded in Mombasa
Sisters for Justice (S4J) is a women-led human rights organization based in Mombasa, Kenya. We advocate for women's rights and the rights of their children, and work every day to cultivate a culture that respects the contributions women make to society.
We believe lasting change happens when women are active participants in the decisions that shape their communities — not bystanders to them. That's why our work spans legal aid, psychosocial support, community dialogue, and rapid response to human rights incidents, always centered on the people we serve.
Our Founder
Naila Abdallah Mohamed founded Sisters for Justice out of a conviction that every woman deserves access to justice, regardless of her income or where she lives. A human rights defender and paralegal by training, Naila has spent her career mentoring young women and pushing for stronger protections under Kenyan law. In 2020, she was nominated for Human Rights Defender of the Year in recognition of her work supporting survivors of gender-based violence and her advocacy for women's economic and political empowerment.
